PREVIOUS COVERAGE | Jury selected in murder trial of Marquis Sanders

BRADENTON -- An eight-woman, four-man jury was seated at 11:30 a.m. today in the murder trial of Marquis Sanders.

Sanders, 19, is standing trial this week in the shooting death of Maria Lerma, 55, on Feb. 1, 2009.

Lerma was killed during a robbery in her Bradenton home in the 900 block of 25th Street East.

Ta Heem Blake, then 16, a reported accomplice of Sanders, was shot and paralyzed by Lerma's son as he tried to run from the house.

Opening arguments were expected in the trial before the jury breaks for lunch.
