Man arrested for urinating on 100-year-old

MANATEE — A drunken 56-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly urinated on a 100-year-old man’s pants, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

Michael J. Yawitz, who was arrested Wednesday on a charge of battery on a person 65 or older, posted a $2,500 bond Thursday, according to the jail’s Web site.

Yawitz, who rents a mother-in-law suite from his 100-year-old landlord in the 8400 block of Coral Way, came into the residence drunk and peed on the blue jeans the man was wearing at about 5 p.m. He then pushed the man on the bed.

The man was upset when he was interviewed by deputies, and began crying at the time, stating that Yawitz has hit him in the past. The elderly man told authorities he is no longer able to write to file a complaint, according to the report.

The man’s caretaker has also been reportedly punched in the face by Yawitz while he was intoxicated, according to the arrest report. Yawitz was arrested Feb. 20 for battering her.

Husband suffocates wife to prevent drinking, driving

BRADENTON — A man told Bradenton police officers a fight turned physical with his intoxicated wife when she tried to grab the car keys to drive away, according to an arrest report.

David Jonathan Phillips, 29, reportedly placed his wife on the bed and then placed a pillow over her face to keep her from spitting on him at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. His wife told officers the pillow prevented her from breathing and that it was placed over her face in an “aggressive” manner, according to the report.

She then struck Phillips while he had the pillow over her face, according to the report.

Phillips was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He left the jail on supervised release Thursday, according to the jail’s Web site.
