BRADENTON -- A support group exclusively for people living with congestive heart failure will meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Emeritus of Bradenton, 450 67th St. W., Bradenton.
According to the American Heart Association, 58.8 million Americans have one or more types of cardiovascular disease, and nearly 5 million of those are living with congestive heart failure. CHF claims the lives of upwards of 250,000 patients per year. The goals of this support group includes life style modifications, such as dietary and weight management, exercise and conserving energy, smoking cessation and the reduction of excess fluids; pharmacological information; and emotional well-being. This month's topic will be "Showing You How To Give Up Sodium Without Giving Up Your Life. Attendees will receive low sodium recipes and low sodium appetizers will be served.
