A boil water notice remains in effect today until 5 p.m. for a small area of Lakewood Ranch but two northbound lanes of Town Center Parkway reopened last night, less than 24 hours after a breach in a major water line sent water pouring into the street.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Town Center and University parkways.
Manatee County Utilities Director Dan Gray said a rubber seal on a major transmission line rolled causing a breach in the line and spilling water into the ground. An alternate water line, a “jumper,” was quickly installed re-routing flow to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and other businesses in the area.
