13 year old stabs minor at Ellenton playground

A minor was stabbed in the left eyebrow with a knife by a 13 year old Thursday night, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

According to a media release:

The victim was at the Oaks of Ellenton playground in the 1600 Block 34th Avenue East at around 8 p.m. with other minors when the suspect approached. Apparently, the two have "a long standing rivalry."

The suspect lunged at the victim, stabbing him in the left eye brow with a knife and leaving about a 2-inch cut. The suspect swung a second time with the knife, but missed.

The victim then ran home and was later driven to Manatee Memorial Hospital by his mother, where the incident was reported to law enforcement.

With the cooperation of both east and north side deputies, the suspect was located in Bradenton and arrested. After being read his Miranda rights, he admitted to the offense. Two knives were recovered exactly where the suspect said he left them.

The victim's injuries were non-life threatening. He was treated and released.
