Man robbed in Manatee home invasion

A man was lying in bed watching television late Thursday when he was bound, tied and robbed by a pair of home invaders, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The attack happened about 11:50 p.m. in the 8900 block of Manor Loop, in the Villages.

According to a news release:

The suspects came inside, one with a black semi-automatic handgun who went directly to the victim's bedroom and ordered him onto the ground.

Once the victim was on the ground, he was bound with duct tape around his hands and had his legs zip-tied. His head was covered with pillows and a sheet from the bedroom.

The suspects rummaged through the victim's property and took a satchel-style briefcase containing gasoline certificates and a large amount of cash.

They then fled out the door and out of the complex by unknown means. Once he was sure the suspects were gone, the victim freed himself and called 911.

Deputies checked the area, but the suspects were unable to be located. There were no injuries during the incident.
