A raccoon scurried into the street in front of a moving deputy patrol car early Thursday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
According to a news release:
The deputy was driving his patrol car at around 3 a.m. on Moccasin Wallow Road when a raccoon ran into the road.
The animal struck the front driver's side bumper, but the deputy saw no damage.
On Thursday, however, at about 4:30 p.m., the deputy noticed a softball-sized dent in the lower bumper trim and notified a superviser.
The bumper popped back out, but the paint is faintly spider-webbed. The appropriate paperwork was completed.
There was no word on the condition of the raccoon.
