MANATEE — Two gunmen robbed five men walking to a Palmetto park this afternoon to play basketball, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. Shots were fired, but no one was injured.
The victims were walking along a ditchline in the 600 block of 17th Street East, Palmetto, towards Lincoln Park about 12:50 p.m. when they were approached on foot by the two suspects. The victims jumped into the nearby ditch as they were startled and didn't understand the suspects, according to the sheriff's office.
Three of the victims handed over their wallets containing a total of $300.
One of the suspects was described as standing 6 feet, 1 inch tall with a skinny build. He was wearing a dark hoodie, black mask and black jeans and armed with a black automatic handgun.

The second suspect was described as standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a skinny build. He was wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans and armed with a black automatic handgun.
