EAST MANATEE — The Old Braden River Historical Society has slated its second Winter Cleanup for Jan. 16 at King Ranch on the lower Braden River. The event will last from 9 a.m. to noon, with registration at 8:30 a.m.
The cleanup will be along the river between the dam south of State Road 70 and the Manatee River. Those younger than 18 years old must bring a parent or guardian to sign a consent form. Go to King Ranch, 4630 60th St. E., Bradenton, between Morgan Johnson and Caruso roads. Signs will direct you to the registration area. Volunteers may pick up a kayak or canoe there, or bring their own.
Bring gloves and appropriate shoes. Keep in mind: You may need to get out of your boat to retrieve some items. A light lunch will be provided afterward.
