Suspect flees, is bitten by Manatee police dog

MANATEE - A suspect in a stolen vehicle case was arrested after led deputies on foot chase late Tuesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were attempting to take Quame Johnson, 17, into custody about 8:25 p.m. in the 1700 block of 36th Avenue East when he pushed a deputy and fled.

The deputy lost track of Johnson, but a police dog, "Roscoe," was able to track him to a backyard in the 3500 block of 18th Street East. The dog bit Johnson on the left foot, according to the sheriff's office.

In addition to vehicle theft charges, Johnson faces a charge of battery on a law enforcement officer.
