December 15, 2009 08:36 AM

MANATEE -- An armed robber pointed a handgun in the face of a store clerk and cleaned out two cash registers at a 7-Eleven convenience store about 1:55 a.m. today.

The clerk was stocking shelves at the store in the 220 block of Pearl Avenue in southern Manatee when the man, wearing a black-knit ski mask, entered the store and demanded money, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The victim walked behind the counter to the register, opened it and put the money into a backpack that the suspect had opened.

The robber walked to the front door, turned around and made the clerk open the second register. The clerk opened the till and placed all of the money from the second register into the backpack.
