ST. PETERSBURG - A cement truck has overturned on the exit ramp to the Pinellas Bayway off Interstate 275 in St. Petersburg, Bay News 9 is reporting.
According to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, the truck was coming down the southbound exit ramp just before 1 p.m. when it hit a guardrail and rolled over onto the northbound lane of the entrance ramp.
Officials said the accident has created a 28-feet long, 6-foot wide, 8-inch deep hole in the interstate.
According to Joel Granata with St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, the entrance ramp is expected to be closed for a few days. Traffic is being detoured to the 54th Avenue South entrance ramp.
Officials said the driver was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with unknown injuries, according to the Bay New 9 report.
