Manatee gang members arrested after chase

MANATEE - Suspected gang members were arrested Thursday after they were caught trespassing in a house and led deputies on a foot chase, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The owner of a house in the 1000 block of 35th Avenue Drive East was checking on her property about 1:52 p.m. when she spotted at least five people inside. The suspects fled, and several deputies responded to the area, according to a news release.

A police dog tracked the suspects, and three male juveniles were arrested after they were bitten by the dog. Two female suspects were not located.

"It appears some of the males are linked to local gangs," the release states.

The three suspects bitten by the dog were taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
