Detective's car damaged in collision with hogs

EAST MANATEE -- Detective Derek Pollock of the Manatee County Sheriff's Office was traveling east on State Road 70 Monday evening when he struck and killed two black hogs standing in the roadway.

Pollock was uninjured, and was able to drive the vehicle from the scene. The accident occurred about 6:22 p.m. in the 28000 block of S.R. 70.

He was traveling at about 60-65 mph. The front end of his vehicle sustained about $1,500 damage, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

On Dec. 1, another deputy swerved to avoid hitting two wild hogs that ran across Buckeye Road. A third hog, however, collided with the deputy's car.
