BRADENTON -- Manatee County investigators are looking into the disappearance of a man with a two-year-old in an interference with child custody/domestic battery case.
The mother of the boy reported that on Friday her boyfriend of four years, John C. McDermott, choked her and threatened to take their 2 year old baby from her if she left him, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's report.
On Saturday, the woman took the baby and moved out of the couple's residence in the 1100 block of 39th Street West.
McDermott went to her new residence on Monday begging her to come home. When she refused, he threatened to kill himself, the Sheriff's report said.

The woman was able to get him calmed down and allowed McDermott to watch the child Tuesday morning with the understanding that she would pick the baby up after work.
The mother went to her ex-boyfriend's home Tuesday afternoon to pick up her child, but could not locate her boyfriend or the child.
McDermott's roommates advised that they last saw him and the child at 11 a.m. Tuesday when he called his mother in Maryland asked her to send him a bus ticket.
The mother contacted the sheriff's office which checked several addresses, the bus station and a local hotel without success.
A bulletin was issued in the case, the abuse registry notified and capias requests were completed on McDermott.
