EAST MANATEE -- Within hours of Peace River Electric Cooperative replacing copper wire stolen from power poles, thieves stole another 4,800 feet of No. 6 wire, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reported.
The wire was stolen from the Oak Knoll Road area. Electric crews had worked until about 11 p.m. Monday replacing the wire. At 7 a.m. today, the utility's dispatch office received a complaint that the power was off down on Oak Knoll Road again.
Upon arrival, crews saw that overnight someone had stolen nearly a mile of copper wire.
