Fire damages Manatee duplex

MANATEE - Fire officials were investigating the cause of a blaze that late Monday caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to a duplex in the 3100 block of Third Avenue East, Bradenton, according to Southern Manatee Fire & Rescue. No one was home, and no one was injured.

Firefighting units from Southern Manatee and Cedar Hammock fire departments responding at 11:22 p.m. were able to bring the blaze under control in about 12 minutes.

The residence sustained heavy fire damage to one bedroom, with heat and smoke damage throughout most of the affected side of the duplex.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
