MANATEE - The Manatee County Health Department has confirmed nine new cases of swine flu in a weekly report released today.
All nine patients have recovered or are in the process of recovering, the release said. The cases appear to be unrelated.
The new cases bring to 19 the incidences of swine flu in Manatee County. The health department is releasing weekly reports on swine flu instead of informing the media after each case.
Also Friday, Sarasota County reported a second swine flu death. Tests on a 47-year-old man who died at a Sarasota hospital confirmed the presence of swine flu.
On Thursday, the Sarasota County Health Department said a 22-year-old Sarasota County man died of swine flu.Sarasota County has recorded 11 swine flu cases.
