Bicyclist mugged in Manatee

MANATEE - A man riding his bike home from work was mugged in the 2000 block of 52nd Avenue West, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 12:39 a.m. this morning, the 36-year-old man was riding when he was confronted by three males. They pushed him off his bicycle and began hitting him as they tried to take his backpack, which he was using to defend himself, according to the sheriff's office.

When they continued attacking, the victim gave them the backpack, which contained the victim's work shoes and cigarettes. The attackers then fled.

No arrests have been made, according to the sheriff's office.

Two of the suspects were described as being dressed in black, and the third suspect was wearing a white shirt and tan shorts, the sheriff's office said.
