BRADENTON BEACH — The former owner of a Bradenton skateboard shop has been arrested on a charge of lewd and lascivious battery on a 15-year-old girl he befriended at his store. Police arrested Joseph Edmund Chiquet, 34, at his Bradenton Beach apartment in the 500 block of Gulf Drive on Tuesday, after the girl reported having a sexual relationship with him, according to a Bradenton Beach Police Department report.
The girl said she met Chiquet at his Bradenton skateboard shop, The Yard, in January and they began a relationship. She told police in an interview with her mother present, that Chiquet lied to her and told her he was 28 years old. The girl gave investigators a detailed description of Chiquet’s apartment, and she also said he had a naked picture of her on his computer, the police report said.
Police searched Chiquet’s apartment Tuesday and collected several pieces of evidence. In addition to the lewd battery charge, Chiquet was arrested on a charge of exposing a minor to harmful motion pictures. He was being held in the Manatee County jail on $10,120 bond.
