Woman hits deputy’s cruiser, arrested on warrant

A driver ran her vehicle into the back of a Manatee sheriff’s deputy’s patrol car and then was arrested on a burglary warrant.

According to a sheriff’s office report, a deputy was headed east on State Road 64 and stopped at a red light at Lakewood Ranch Boulevard when Janet Fischer, 26, of 5420 17th St. W., Bradenton, struck the patrol car in the rear end with the Dodge pickup she was driving.

No one was injured, but about $400 in damage was done to the deputy’s vehicle and about $600 to Fischer’s truck.

Fischer admitted she was at fault in the accident and was issued a ticket for careless driving and driving with a suspended license. She also was arrested on an outstanding burglary warrant from Sarasota County and was being held at Manatee County jail on $1,000 bond.
