Search on after bank shuts suspicious man out

BRADENTON - Bradenton police are searching for a man who ran from a bank after employees locked the doors on him because he was wearing a hat and sunglasses as he tried to enter the building. Earlier, it was incorrectly reported that the bank had been robbed.

At around 2:30 p.m., the man ran from a First America Bank branch,at 2811 Manatee Ave. W., and shed a top layer of clothes after bank employees locked him out, according to Bradenton Police Deputy Chief J.J. Lewis.

Bradenton police searched for the man but could not find him. Police dogs and a helicopter from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office also were used during the search.

He was described as wearing blue jean shorts, a dark long sleeve shirt, a grey short sleeve shirt, a grey baseball cap, tennis shoes and sunglasses.

The First America branch was previously robbed April 14. No arrests have been made in that hold-up.
