2 arrested after Manatee home invasion

MANATEE - Two men were arrested early this morning after they broke into an apartment and tried to rob the residents, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 1:45 a.m., the suspects - Joshua Sanders, 22, and Chad Wickersham, 21 - entered through the unlocked front door of an apartment in the 2500 block of 48th Avenue West. They pointed a handgun at one of the victims and demanded money.

The victim's roommate heard the commotion and went into the living room. He recognized Wickerham and chased the attackers out of the apartment.

The suspects fled in a gold Saturn, which was located at 20th Street West and 53rd Avenue West. A gun was found in the car, and the victims identified Sanders and Wickersham as the intruders. They face charges of armed home invasion robbery.
