Man surrenders to police after standoff in Bradenton

BRADENTON - A man is custody after a standoff with police near downtown Bradenton.

About 1:20 p.m., police tactical officers surrounded a house in the 1600 block of 12th Avenue West and ordered a man inside to come out. Shortly afterwards, the man came out and was arrested.

Police were called to the scene after someone called 911 to report that they had seen the suspect threaten another person with a gun and a knife in the street, said Bradenton police Lt. W.T. Merriman.

Merriman said officers have not been able to locate the person who allegedly was threatened.

No injuries were reported in the standoff, Merriman said.
