Cops: Robber put gun in victim's mouth

MANATEE - A gunman pistol-whipped a 20-year-old woman and then placed the barrel of the gun in her mouth during a robbery Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

The hold-up happened about 5 p.m. in front of a residence in the 600 block of 64th Avenue East, Bradenton.

The woman and her boyfriend had driven to the residence to visit a friend. The man saw the suspect walking around in a suspicious manner and got out of the car to investigate. When he went around the house, the robber approached the woman from the other side, according to a news release.

The robber pointed a black and silver handgun and took Oxycodone pills and more than $860 in cash from the woman's purse. He then struck her in the back of the head with the gun and placed the barrel in her mouth, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect was disturbed by neighbors and fled on foot towards the south. A sheriff's office police dog attempted to track the suspect but the search was unsuccessful.

The victim was treated and released at the scene for minor injuries.

The suspect was described as standing about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and wearing a black hat, shirt, bandana and blue jeans.
