Manatee sheriff's deputy struck during mob fight

Two people including a juvenile were arrested early Sunday morning following a mob fight at an area hotel.

Dietrick Crawford, 40, of Bradenton, and a juvenile, were charged with battery on a law enforcement officer following the melee that took place at the Roadway Inn in the 2300 block of First Street, Bradenton, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.

According to the release, deputies were dispatched to the hotel for a fight. When they arrived they found about 100 people in the parking lot.

Multiple people were fighting and, during the fight, three deputies were struck by Crawford and the juvenile, according to the release.

The deputies were not injured.

Crawford and the juvenile were taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital and then to jail.
