BRADENTON - The residents of the Riverview neighborhood, the scene of a violent home invasion robbery April 13, are in the process of putting together a Neighborhood Watch. A meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the Manatee River Garden Club, 3120 First Ave. W.
This will be the neighborhood’s second meeting in a series of four that will earn it a Neighborhood Watch status.
The first meeting was an orientation hosted by Sgt. L.J. Millard of the Bradenton Police Department that covered how to set up a watch and how residents and police can work together.
Thursday's meeting will focus on residential security. The third meeting will focus on personal safety and the fourth and final meeting is selected by the neighborhood from this group of electives: scams and cons, identity theft, holiday safety, Internet safety and more. Each meeting lasts about one hour to 90 minutes.
