MANATEE - A 71-year-old Bradenton man fought off two teen-agers who tried to mug him late Monday night, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
About 9:30 p.m., the victim was walking to his home in the 3100 block of Third Street West when he was approached from behind and hit with a blunt object. The attackers demanded money, but the victim refused and got into a fight with the suspects. They then fled toward the Wood Park Condominiums in the 600 block of 30th Avenue West, according to a news release.
The suspects were described as being between 16 and 18 years old. One of them was carrying a yellow backpack, according to the sheriff's office.
The victim had a cut to his head, but he refused medical treatment by paramedics.
