EAST MANATEE - A teenage girl was robbed at gunpoint in front of her home late Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The girl was arriving home from work about 9:20 p.m. when she was approached by a masked man holding a gun. He pointed it at her and demanded her money. She gave him her wallet, according to the sheriff's office.
The gunman then ordered her to lay her head in the passenger seat and to county to 100. He then fled.
A neighbor heard a scream and observed a red SUV drive down the street at a high rate of speed, in reverse. He said the vehicle's tag was a Florida license plate, but the letters were covered up with duct tape. He described the vehicle as a late 90's Land Rover Discovery and said there were two occupants inside.
