MANATEE – Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot a man who ran from an arrest attempt with a Taser late Tuesday night, according to a sheriff’s report.
Deputies arrested Edward Lee Looman III, 26, of Bradenton, on a charge of resisting arrest without violence after he ran from deputies trying to arrest him on outstanding warrants.
Sheriff’s reports say when deputies arrived at Looman’s home just before midnight, in the 6400 block of 26th Street West. He ran, jumping a chain link fence. A deputy fired a Taser at Looman as he jumped the fence but missed, the sheriff’s report said.
Moments later deputies found Looman hiding under a vehicle nearby. He refused to come out and a deputy fired a Taser at him, hitting his side. Deputies were then able to take Looman into custody.
