Public input sought on regional transportation

TARA -- As the Tampa Bay Regional Transportation Authority completes its master plan, it is seeking comment from the public.

Grace Carlson, a spokeswoman for TBARTA, appeared before County Commissioner Donna Hayes' District 5 advisory board today and said she trying to visit as many civic groups and organizations as possible before.

Tampa Bay is the only one of the top 20 metropolitan areas in the United States that lacks a regional transportation system with an integrated bus and rail network.

"The legislature felt it was time to create some options beyond cars," Carlson said.

Town hall meetings and a public hearing will be held on the plan, she said.

Once the master plan is implemented it will create jobs, improve the quality of life and offer transportation choices that are affordable, convenient and accessible," Carlson said.
