Galvano, Reagan get new leadership posts in Florida House

State Rep. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, has been chairman of the Florida House committee overseeing the state's gambling compact with the Seminole Indian Tribe. Galvano, who had been the committee's vice-chair, was elevated to the top post as part of House Speaker Larry Cretul's re-organization of the House leadership.

Galvano already is chairman of the House rules committee.

Cretul also announced today that Rep. Ron Reagan, R-Bradenton, will replace Cretul as speaker pro tem of the House.

Cretul was named House speaker earlier this week, after the Republican caucus ousted Ray Sansom, who faces several ethical and legal investigations into his ties with a northwest Florida community college.
