A man was shot after two intruders broke into his home late Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The intruders, wearing black clothing and wearing ski masks, burst into the residence in the 2600 block of Sixth Avenue East, Palmetto, at about 11:55 p.m. The victim and his girlfriend were in their bedroom when they heard the break-in.
The man went to his bedroom door and locked it, and the woman locked herself in a bathroom and called 911. The intruders got into the bedroom and fired two shots, one of which hit the victim in the left thigh. The suspects then fled the house, without making any demands or taking any items, according to a sheriff's office news release.
No one else in the house, which also included the woman's two children and mother, were injured.
