Boy Scout car wash: Troop 78 will clean your car 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today in front of Northminster Presbyterian Church, 3131 61st St., Sarasota. Donations will go toward replacing aging camping equipment and assisting in summer camp expenses.

"Splash Shabbat": Young Jewish and interfaith families are invited to beat the heat and celebrate Shabbat at "Splash Shabbat" at 10:30 a.m. today at Temple Emanu-El, 151 McIntosh Road, Sarasota. "Splash Shabbat" features sprinklers, wading pools and water play as well as chalk and bubble time in the shade. Designed especially for kids ages 1-6, attendees will then head inside to enjoy bagels, cream cheese, fruit and juice, and celebrate Shabbat with age-appropriate prayers, songs, movement and a story with Rabbi Brenner Glickman. An "oneg," or reception, of popsicles will conclude the experience. "Splash Shabbat" is free. "Lunch with the Rabbi": The popular monthly program featuring Rabbi Brenner J. Glickman will hold its final session of the season at noon June 6 at Temple Emanu-El, 151 McIntosh Road, Sarasota. The community is invited to this afternoon of socializing and discussion of current events and topics of Jewish interest. Attendees are asked to bring a brown-bag lunch; homemade dessert is provided. Orthodox Catholic: The Synod of Governing Bishops for the Holy Orthodox Catholic Church announced the opening if their new church temporarily at 2700 S. Tamiami Trail, Suite 11B, Sarasota. Temple Beth Israel: The Social Action Committee of Temple Beth Israel collects donations for the Bill Galvano One Stop Center. Needed: funding for medication, socks, mosquito repellent, toilet articles and soap, shoes, jeans, baby diapers and formula, reading glasses and bicycles. Donations can be given directly to the One Stop Center, 701 17th Ave. W., or dropped off at Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road, Longboat Key.

Temple Emanu-El: Under the direction of its Social Action Committee, Temple Emanu-El, 151 McIntosh Road, Sarasota, continues its food drive for those in Sarasota-Manatee who go hungry. Nonperishable boxed and canned foods may be placed in a marked bin in the Temple lobby during business hours and before and after Shabbat worship services. Living Lord Lutheran Church: Our Daily Bread/Project 5000 at Living Lord Lutheran Church, 11120 S.R. 70 E., Lakewood Ranch, is collecting grocery bags filled with unbreakable containers to feed local families. Each bag will feed a family of four for two days or a family of two for four days. Also, the Quilters and Crafty Ladies meet 3 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month to make lap robes and quilts for the needy in Manatee County.
