Bethlehem Walk: Roser Memorial Community Church, 512 Pine Ave., Anna Maria, will hold its annual Bethlehem Walk at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 10. The walk consists of taking the journey to Bethlehem with Mary, Joseph and the animals in search of shelter. On this route, participants will travel from “inn” to “inn” and will join together for a prayer and sing favorite Christmas carols. The walk will end at Fellowship Hall for hot chocolate and cookies. Handel’s Messiah: The St. Joseph Music Makers, under the direction of Timothy O’Connor, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their Advent Concert by performing G.F. Handel’s “Messiah” at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3100 26th St. W., Bradenton. The concert will also feature members of the Sarasota Orchestra and soloists Lorraine Murphy, soprano; Amy Jo Connours, alto; Robert Lischetti, tenor; and Bernard Hahnke, bass. Baroque Christmas: “Going Baroque at Christmas” is the theme of the holiday concert to be performed by the choral ensemble Musica Sacra Cantorum at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 5615 Midnight Pass Road, Siesta Key. Cantatas No. 1 and No. 40, composed by J. S. Bach especially for the Christmas season, will make up the centerpiece of this program. Tickets at $15 are available at or at the door.

Christmas celebration: The women of Northminster Presbyterian Church, 3131 61st St., Sarasota, will have their annual Christmas program in the sanctuary, including a pot luck salad luncheon, at 11 a.m. Dec. 15. Untangling relationships: A new, free class titled “Untangling Relationships” is set for those who are in, or have been in, a relationship with someone with addictions or control issues. Living Lord Lutheran Church: Our Daily Bread/Project 5000 at Living Lord Lutheran Church, 11120 S.R. 70 E., Lakewood Ranch, is collecting grocery bags filled with unbreakable containers to feed local families. Each bag will feed a family of four for two days or a family of two for four days. Also, the Quilters and Crafty Ladies meet 3 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month to make lap robes and quilts for the needy in Manatee County. Orthodox Catholic: The Synod of Governing Bishops for the Holy Orthodox Catholic Church announced the opening if their new church temporarily at 2700 S. Tamiami Trail, Suite 11B, Sarasota. Temple Beth Israel: The Social Action Committee of Temple Beth Israel collects donations for the Bill Galvano One Stop Center. Needed: funding for medication, socks, mosquito repellent, toilet articles and soap, shoes, jeans, baby diapers and formula, reading glasses and bicycles. Temple Emanu-El: Under the direction of its Social Action Committee, Temple Emanu-El, 151 McIntosh Road, Sarasota, continues its food drive for those in Sarasota-Manatee who go hungry. Nonperishable boxed and canned foods may be placed in a marked bin in the Temple lobby during business hours and before and after Shabbat worship services.
