Spiritual forum: Life After Death will be the theme of a forum at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Unity Center for Spiritual Dialogue at Unity Church in the Woods, 4200 32nd St. W., Bradenton. Information: 737-6582.

Group discussion: A multidenominational group resumes Feb. 23 and continues 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 6608 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach. The group will focus on the noncanonical Gospel of James. The group explores an academic, not devotional, study of the Bible. A 30-minute film is followed by a discussion.

Women’s group: The Women’s Spiritual Growth Group of First United Church in downtown Sarasota wishes to share Finding Balance, a video-based study of New Testament women. The study will be at noon Wednesdays for six weeks beginning Feb. 24. The primary goal of the study is to help women weigh and resolve some of the conflicting issues in their lives. Missions conference: People with Seed in a World in Need is the theme of Calvary Baptist Church’s missions conference Feb. 24-28. Youth concert: The eighth annual Black History Youth Concert is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at New Life General Baptist Church, 609 Ninth St. W., Palmetto. Purim celebration: Chabad of Bradenton & Lakewood Ranch, 11509 Palmbrush Trail, Lakewood Ranch will host its sixth annual “Purim around the World” celebration with an African jungle theme at 5:30 p.m.Feb. 28. Purim commemorates the escape of the Jewish people from annihilation by the ancient Persian Empire, and is celebrated by the exchange of food packages between friends, by giving charity to the poor, by eating a traditional festive meal and by reading the story of Purim from the Megillah (Purim scroll). Classical concert: The Chroma String Quartet, composed of members of the Sarasota Orchestra, will present a free concert at 4 p.m. Feb. 28 at Christ Church, 4030 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Men’s group: A new men’s group, The Men’s Network P.M. Edition, will begin at 7 p.m. March 3 in the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church, 104 S. Pineapple Ave., Sarasota. The group will offer men of all ages a midweek evening time out for honest talk on the challenges men face every day, including family, marriage, work, retirement and other topics. Prayer Day: Church Women United’s annual World Day of Prayer celebration will be held beginning 9:30 a.m. March 5 with coffee and fellowship at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3001 10th Ave. W., Bradenton. Worship will begin at 10 a.m. This year’s theme is, “Let Everything That Has Breath Praise God.” Organized in over 62 countries, prayers will follow the sun around the globe. Anchor House visit: The women of Northminster Presbyterian Church are planning a trip March 8 to visit Anchor House, a mission to seafarers entering Port Manatee. The mission is near to the docks and welcomes more than 5,000 international seafarers annually, providing for their physical and spiritual needs. Information: 355-4729.
