Manatee chefs join author for fundraiser: Regional chefs will bring their cuisine to The Seafood Shack on Sept. 2 for a fundraiser featuring author Vanessa Lafaye. Proceeds will benefit the Coastal Conservation Association Florida. Florida native Vanessa Lafaye's debut novel "Under a Dark Summer Sky" is a love story and a dramatic depiction of a major natural disaster in the Florida Keys in 1935.
Manatee County chefs will create a menu based on foods depicted in the book. Serving the dishes family-style will provide a relaxed atmosphere encouraging rich conversation and social interactions.
