Taste of UTC: Taste of UTC, a food, fashion and beauty event, is 6-9 p.m. May 19 at the Mall at University Town Center in Sarasota. Presented by Holcombe-Kreithen Plastic Surgery and MedSpa, the event features a progessive dining stroll with appetizers at Brio Tuscan Grille, entree tastings at The Capital Grille and desserts at Seasons 52. Seafood recipes wanted: The Florida Maritime museum is planning a new, Cortez-themed calendar for 2015. When released, the calendar will feature fun, Florida seafood recipes and 12 sketches by talented artist John Miller. The Florida Maritime Museum is accepting recipe submissions. The top 12 entries will be featured in the calendar, and winners will each receive a free copy. Email recipes to Halee Turner at halee.turner@manateeclerk.com by June 12 to be considered.

Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week: The 10th annual Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week returns June 1-14. Throughout this year's Savor Sarasota event, guests can enjoy $29 pre-fixe three-course dinner menus and multi course lunch menus for just $15, allowing visitors a chance to sample eclectic offerings for every palate. New restaurants this year include: Amore by Andrea, Marker 4 Restaurant, Sardinia Restaurant, Season's 52, The Capital Grille, Surf Shack Coastal Kitchen and Tsunami Sushi & Hibachi. Polo Grill weekly specials: Polo Grill in Lakewood Ranch is offering new daily specials. Kick off the week with a complimentary glass of house wine with a $10 food purchase during lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays. Tuesday you can get a burger and beer for $6 during lunch. Wednesday features all-you-can-eat apps for $10 per person from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in lounge only. Thursday is pizza and piano night in the lounge. Enjoy complimentary handcrafted pizza while listening to the talented Jordan Bush from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. End the business week with a $1 ice cold Bud Light draft during happy hour from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday's in the lounge. Cuban Epicurean Adventure: Each month, Michael's On East offers new "Epicurean Adventure" lunch and dinner menus inspired by exotic culinary destinations. In April, the culinary team will present a Portugal Epicurean Adventure. The three-course dinner menu is available Monday through Saturday evenings for $34.95 per person. Jazz brunch: The Sandbar's Sunday Jazz Brunch features nationally recognized, top local jazz musicians. The menu, served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., includes items made with farm-to-fork produce along with fresh gulf seafood, breads made on site and drinks made with fresh fruits. Sunday brunch: Polo Grill and Bar, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch, is offering Sunday Brunch, a brand new menu every Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. featuring a variety of hot and cold selections for breakfast and lunch that changes weekly with a mimosa, Bloody Mary and organic raw juice bar. COOKING CLASSES

Chef series: Chef Andrea at Amore by Andrea, 555 Bay Isles Parkway, Longboat Key, will be featuring a three-course tasting menu, including a wine pairing with the first two courses, 6 p.m. May 19. The menu will be prepared including ingredients provided by The Spice and Tea Exchange on St. Armands Circle.
