Ongoing: Boater’s World at DeSoto Square holds a series of free seminars with local captains. Upcoming seminars: March 3 — Capts. Jason Ramsey and TJ Stewart on saltwater tactics; March 17 — Capt. Jack Hartman on spring tactics for success; March 31 — Capt. Terry Frankford on redfish and sheepshead techniques; April 7 — Capts. Pete and Mark Kelley on saltwater and freshwater techniques; April 14 — Guide Steve Gibson with a fishing for the exotics slide presentation; May 5 — Capts. Brady Nelson and Josh Ramsey on summer time redfish.

Feb. 28-April 4 : The next program for tennis lessons at the Manatee County YMCA Bradenton Branch, 3805 59th St. W., begins Feb. 28. The six-week program is held at the Sugg Middle School tennis courts on Saturday mornings. Information: 792-7484.

February : The Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex will hold public skating from 10 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday, 8-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 1-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. The cost is $8 for regular admission, $6 for seniors (55 and older) and free for children 3-under. Skate rental is $3.

Through March 7 : Bradenton Country Club will hold a varsity youth team tennis league for grades K-5. There is a minimum of four players and a maximum of eight per team. The cost is $75 a child for the six-week league that includes team T-shirts, tennis balls, trophies, racquets and an awards party. Information: Laurie Tinnell, 792-2293 or bcctennis@tampabay.rr.com.

Through March 7 : Bradenton Country Club is offering free tennis classes for ages 5-12 from 10-11 a.m. Saturdays (except for Jan. 24) to the first 25 kids who register. Racquets will be provided. Players must wear tennis shoes. Information: Laurie Tinnell, 792-2293 or bcctennis@tampabay.rr.com.

March 9-May 16: The Manatee County YMCA, Bradenton Branch, is offering an adult 3 on 3 basketball league. The cost is $30 for YMCA members, $60 for non-members. Games will be played at 8 p.m. on Mondays. Information: (941) 792-7484 or www.manateeymca.org.

March 16-May 23 : The Lakewood Ranch YMCA is offering Little Hitters (ages 4-5), T-Ball (6-7), Indoor Soccer (4-5, 6-7, 8-10), Outdoor Soccer (11-13) and Flag Football (6-7, 8-9, 10-13). April 19 : The K-Swiss 10K at Heritage Harbour begins at 7:30 a.m. at Heritage Harbour’s Central Park, located a half-mile east of Interstate 75 on State Road 64.
