Mama Cow Becomes a Living Shelter for Her Newborn Calf During a Storm, and It's Beautiful
A mama Cow did everything she could to protect her baby from a powerful rainstorm at the farm.
In a TikTok video, the mother cow made sure to shield her baby from the sudden rainstorm that hit the farm. In the video, the mother cow stood over her calf to make sure she had some cover from the rainfall.

"Got unexpected rain [and] I felt bad for our newborn calf because there's no shelter in the pasture," the text overlay read on the video. "Then I walked out to see this, and my heart completely melted." In the video caption, they added that she was "such a good mama."
People in the comments absolutely loved the touching moment and wrote, "mama is always the shelter ."
"Such a 'mom thing,'" another user wrote in the comments. "Nothing a mom wouldn't do for her babies ." One person even suggested that they "Go hold an umbrella for baby and mama now" during the storm so the mother could be shielded from the rain as well.
Despite the concern from other commenters about shielding both mother and calf from the downpour, one user pointed out that a "cow's perfect ideal weather is 46 degrees. The rain isn't the best, but they don't mind a little bit chillier [day]."
"Even in nature, the moms know to take care and protect the baby," another user wrote in the comments. One person even pointed out that it looked like the mother and baby both had matching coats and that they absolutely loved seeing them together.

Why Mama Cows Are Instinctively Protective
Mothers are known to be fierce protectors of their young, no matter their species. But mother cows specifically are known to be extremely protective of their young.
According to FarmSanctuary.org, mother cows form deep bonds with their babies. If they are separated on a dairy farm, the mothers will cry out for their babies. They also note that studies have been done that show a mother cow will "physically block a vehicle approaching their calf" and become more protective of the calves, with low birth weight, nursing them more frequently."
Mother cows are even known to adopt other orphaned cows and make them a part of their herd if they don't have that protection.
