'Final Fantasy 7 Revelation' Director Confirms Fan-Favorite Feature Will Return
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the official title for the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy, was officially announced this past weekend as the closer for Summer Game Fest, and new information is slowly trickling in. We now have confirmation that one of the most popular parts of the previous game, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, will return for Revelation.
In an interview with Game Informer, Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the fan-favorite mini-game, Queen's Blood, will be in Revelation, but it will be expanded, and the storyline will focus on Red XIII and not Cloud.
"It was a very popular content back in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and yes, it will have its own story again," Hamaguchi said. "One of the key changes, though, is that in Rebirth, Cloud was the main protagonist of the Queen's Blood story. In the Queen's Blood content and story in FF7 Revelation, the protagonist is actually Nanaki, so it's not going to be Cloud this time." Nanaki is the real name of Red XIII.
Queen's Blood is a card mini-game that lets players collect cards and then use their stats to take over a board with a specific number of slots on the board for the cards. The game saw a similar positive reception to the mini-game Triple Triad from Final Fantasy 8.
Hamaguchi also stated that, while some fans may have criticized the amount of mini-games in FF7 Rebirth, the team decided to bring just as many to Revelation, while changing the way they are implemented in the game, as well as letting players choose to opt out of playing them.
"We're very mindful of the feedback we received for FF7 Rebirth, so we did make a lot of adjustments so that the fans can play the minigame and our side content sections a lot more smoothly," he says. "There will be difficulty settings implemented into the minigames now, and if players feel that it's not their cup of tea, they have the option to skip the minigame section, too."
Hamaguchi continued, "And also, one more thing is that most of the rewards are not going to be tied to combat items, either. There are still going to be a lot of minigames and side contents, but we also want to be more mindful of the players' accessibility, too."
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is currently scheduled to release in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game will be available on release day for all platforms.
