Englewood man jailed on charge of felony DUI manslaughter after death of 55-year-old passenger

A 32-year-old Englewood man was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony DUI manslaughter and noncriminal infractions of careless driving and expired tag, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Donald Paulsen II was in serious condition at Lee Memorial Hospital after the 1:30 a.m. May 6 accident that killed 55-year-old Owen Anders of Port Charlotte and inflicted minor injuries on a 42-year-old male passenger from Port Charlotte.

Paulsen was taken to Charlotte County jail Wednesday, FHP reported.

Paulsen's 1999 Ford F-350 was eastbound on Ingraham Boulevard approaching the intersection of St. Paul Drive when it ran the stop sign and drove through the intersection and entered the northbound grassy shoulder of St. Paul Drive.

As the truck rotated clockwise its left-front wheel struck a concrete culvert and it overturned.
