Manatee's Meals on Wheels PLUS names new CEO

BRADENTON -- Maribeth Phillips has been active in Manatee County for the past decade, performing various roles and wearing different titles.

Today she has a new one.

Phillips was appointed the new chief executive officer for Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee by the nonprofit's board of directors. She succeeds Ellen Campbell, who retired last May after 23 years.

Having served the last three years as a volunteer on its board of directors, Phillips decided to make the move.

"I've always been passionate about Meals on Wheels PLUS," said the Stamford, Conn., native. "I'm honored to be representing this outstanding organization and the people here who are so dedicated to it. I'm looking forward to taking the organization and its programs into the future and reaching all of the people in the community who benefit from them."

Phillips is currently president of the Lakewood Ranch Community Activities Corporation board of directors.

She was vice president of human resources for both Phoenix Ink and Gevity (now Trinet) in Bradenton and also worked in sales for Neal

With Phillips' extensive background in human resource management, marketing, business development, event planning and fundraising, board chair Terry Wells said it was a natural fit.

"Maribeth's enthusiasm for the mission of Meals on Wheels PLUS and her knowledge of the local community are great assets," Wells said. "She brings a wealth of experience that will further strengthen the organization and its prominent distinction in Manatee County."

Phillips will oversee numerous Meals on Wheels PLUS operations, including home-delivered meals, senior transportation, adult day care, friendship dining centers, the Food Bank of Manatee and Renaissance on 9th, featuring the Senior Enrichment Center.

A mother of two, Phillips is a graduate in business administration from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn., and has been a member of the Society of Human Resources Management.
