Bradenton murder suspect arrested in New York

MANATEE -- Earl Scott, who is suspected of killing Ruben Harris April 30 in Bradenton, was arrested Wednesday in New York.

Scott, 32, is accused of following Harris, 29, from the DaVinci's nightclub, 105 Cortez Road, to a Shell gas station at the intersection of 301 Boulevard East and Ninth Street East, where he shot and killed him. The two men allegedly had a dispute over a woman at the nightclub.

Harris' body was found about 3:20 a.m. in the gas station parking lot.

The Manatee County Sheriff's Office released security camera footage from the nightclub in order to identify the suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained May 7 for Scott.

Scott was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Wednesday near New York City, according to the sheriff's office.

A Manatee County Sheriff's homicide detective received a tip from Crime Stoppers as to Scott's whereabouts and alerted the U.S. Marshals on Sunday. The sheriff's office said it may take several weeks to have Scott transported back to Manatee County.

Scott is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
