Juvenile injured in drive-by shooting in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A juvenile victim with arm and hand injuries was taken to Blake Medical Center today after a drive-by shooting in the 300 block of 61st Avenue East in Bradenton, a Manatee County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.

The victim's injuries are not life-threatening, a news release stated.

Deputies responded to the residence at 12:38 p.m.

The 16-year-old victim was found in the back bedroom with two gunshot wounds when deputies arrived, a news release stated.

Information gathered through interviews reveals the victim "and one or two others" were outside the home when a car, occupied by four people passed, According to the news release, someone inside the car began shooting.

The suspect vehicle, a black Saturn, fled west on 61st Avenue East and north on First Street East, a deputy said.

The sheriff's office said it appeared no one else was shot.
