BRADENTON -- The defending Class 7A state champion Manatee High football team announced today the out-of-state opponents it will play during the 2012 season.
The Hurricanes will host Friendship Collegiate Academy out of Washington, D.C, on Saturday, Sept. 1, before embarking on the longest road trip in program history to the Seattle area to meet defending Washington State champion Skyline on Saturday, Sept. 15.
Both games are expected to be nationally televised.
This past season, Manatee hosted eventual national champion Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) and traveled to nationally ranked Our Lady of Good Counsel (Maryland). Though the Hurricanes suffered a pair of close losses, head coach Joe Kinnan credited those games with prepared his team to run through its Florida competition undefeated on the way to the team’s fifth state championship.
