BRADENTON -- More than 75 students representing five local high school drama departments took to the stage Saturday in the 12th annual Manatee County High School Theatre Festival at Manatee High School’s new Davis Center for the Performing Arts.
An audience of parents, citizens and performers enjoyed five productions, including:
n Manatee High School: “Sleeping Beauty (Dornröschen),” by Moses Goldberg
n Bayshore High School: “Commedia: Puss N Boots,” by Lane Riesley
n Lakewood Ranch High School: “Unforgettable,” by Joseph Grosso
n Southeast High School: “Words, Words, Words,” by David Ives
n Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School: “The Good Doctor,” by Neil Simon
The festival is made possible through the Manatee Education Foundation, Manatee Community Federal Credit Union and the Manatee Players.
“Our district is committed to a focus on the arts and this festival brings all of our local high school talent together to network and showcase what a strong drama program we have in our schools,” stated Superintendent Tim McGonegal, who opened the program at 9 a.m.
