HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS -- The Lakewood Ranch boys golf team has won the Class 2A boys state golf championship Wednesday, the first in history from a Manatee County public high school.
After shooting a team score of 317 on Tuesday, the Mustangs fired a 304 Wednesday and defeated second-place Spruce Creek Port Orange by six strokes.
Ramsey Touchberry led the way with a two-round score of 151. He tied for fifth in the individual standings. Connor Baldwin finished with a 154, and defending individual state champion Danny Walker came in with a 156. Hunter Sagar rounded out the scoring with a 160.
