“Pink Palace” owners have renovation plans on table

BRADENTON -- Owners of Bradenton’s scruffy landmark, once the glamorous Manatee River Hotel, have a renovation plan on the table, and will present it at the next meeting of the city’s Downtown Development Authority, officials said today.

The building’s owners hope to apply for incentive money from the authority, possibly in the $3.5 million-$4 million range, to jump start the rejuvenation of the 1925-circa “The Pink Palace,” authority member Greg Green told the board at Bradenton City Hall this morning.

“Everybody really wants to see something happen there, it’s an eyesore,” said authority member Tom Seguin of the former hotel at 309 10th St. W., It has been vacant since 2005.
