MANATEE -- Manatee County commissioners today voted against rezoning four lots along Manatee Avenue West after neighbors opposed the request.
Commissioners voted 5-2, with Larry Bustle and Donna Hayes in the minority, to reject the request by the property owners.
The owners wanted to rezone the lots, in the 7600 block of Manatee Avenue, from residential to small professional office. The owners said the lots’ location along a major thoroughfare was better-suited for business than for residential.
But Palma Sola Park neighbors opposed it, saying the rezone would worsen traffic problems and forever alter the character of their 85-year-old neighborhood.
